Dashi!

This special boy is a rare XXY torbie (tabby/tortoise shell). Tortoiseshell and calico cats are almost exclusively female due to how the gene for the coloration is passed down, but around 1/3000 are male. But he is special for many more reasons!

Dashi and his sister Nani were born on April 11th 2019. Their momma was a street cat who had been captured and socialized while she was pregnant. They were adopted out as a pair when they were kittens to their previous human, but sadly couldn’t stay with her due to a change in the family. They were returned to the cat rescue in 2021, and it was there my husband and I met them!

We knew we wanted a bonded pair of cats, and after grieving the loss of Loaf for two years we were finally ready. I took one look at Dashi’s lil’ idiot face and fell head over heels. When we heard how they had come to the rescue, it cemented our desire to give them their true forever home!
